Our work spans multiple objects and techniques. We use colored rods, frits or cane from vendors, we pull cane ourselves and use the same in our work. In those pieces, we usually try to combine two or more colors, but we also go with a single color at times.

We also recycle glass objects that were either defective or broken during the manufacturing process. We cut them into small (1″x1″ or so) and large (2″x4″ or so) shards, arrange shards in a pattern that makes more or less a rectangular layer of colored glass mosaic. We then roll it over a collar or bubble and make our pieces with that.

The more colors or canes we use, the longer our process is, and the risk of failure (there are many ways to fail) gets higher and higher. The size of the piece also contributes to the difficulty and risk of the process. Unless it is a Venetian style piece, smaller, lightweight pieces are easier to make and are usually less risky as well. Bowls, plates, large vases all have their own unique difficulties and risks.
